In fifth grade, every day after lunch our teacher would read a book to us. And this was how I first experienced the Hobbit - as a book read aloud to a room full of fifth and sixth graders of various reading interests and ability who were suddenly quiet and interested. And so I asked for the whole set for Christmas, and Santa so provided.I didn't like any of the other books as much as this one, and this one I read more than once. And definitely the whole series is in need of a revisit. Which you'd think I'd have done before now, seeing as how the husband and I rabidly consumed the films (yes, we were those people who had to go see them on opening night and waited in lines, etc.).
